History
In the early part of the 20th century, the Henschel name could be found on the freighters that sailed up the main channel of the Chesapeake to the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia. In the latter part of the century and into the 21st, it can still be found on freighters sailing all the oceans of the world, on nuclear submarines traveling under the polar icecaps, on nearly every merchant ship around the world, and on every ship in the United States Navy fleet. Henschel was founded in 1919, and still has its headquarters on the eastern seaboard. The company remains America's oldest, most respected manufacturer of control consoles, interior communications, and indicating and monitoring equipment.
Today, L-3 Communications Henschel operates out of a modern, 82,000 square foot vertically integrated manufacturing facility in Newburyport, MA, with complete quality control through every phase of a product's development, production, testing and delivery.

In 1998, Power & Control Systems Group was acquired by L-3 Communications, a leading merchant supplier to aerospace, military and commercial primes.
